THREE PROGRESO TEXAS YOUNG ADULTS MURDERED NEAR MATAMOROS ARE IDENTIFIED BY PARENTS

A Matamoros police death squad which is in charge of the security of the Mayor of Matamoros, Leticia Salazar, kidnapped and killed three young U.S. citizens, asserted the mother of the victims on Tuesday.

Raquel Alvarado asserts that her sons and daughters, Erica, 26; Alex, 22 and Jose Angel, 21, were kidnapped on October 13 in the small town of El Control, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

Alvarado explained that she discovered that the three, who live in Progreso, Texas, disappeared when they never arrived at their father's house, located in Matamoros.

Witnesses have told her that Alex and Jose Angel planned to meet with Erica in a restaurant in El Control, where she was eating with her boyfriend.

However, witnesses told Alvarado that when Alex and Jose Angel arrived at the restaurant, members of the police squad who protect Salazar, a member of the National Action Party (PAN) were hitting Erica and her boyfriend.

The two brothers intervened in the fight, then all of them were taken away by the police, and their whereabouts remained unknown until Wednesday when three bodies were found.
Alvarado, who was interviewed by Grupo Formula radio station, also asserted that one of the members of the Hercules squad, which protects Salazar, has been seen with the same Tahoe truck that belongs to her daughter and even with some furniture she was carrying in her truck.

"I know she has them," said Alvarado.

The U.S. embassy in Mexico has said that it is aware of the case and that it is working with the Alvarado family. The FBI is also investigating.

The Matamoros government, a "sister city" of Harlingen, Texas, has not made any statements.
